Hey,
Finding no precompiled kernel interface (2.2.20), I d/led my kernel source and ran the installer, which reported not finding the kernel headers. I ran it again, specifying the exact path, but the installer reported not finding a certain "*.h" file. It's true, the specified file does not exist in the target directory, so where do I go from here? Thanks in advance. |

I think the nvidia driver works only with 2.4.x kernels and above... right?

The kernel source tree needs to be configured in order to be useful; if the installer complains about modversions.h missing, this generally isn't the case. You have two options; either configure the kernel source or, alternatively, download and install the Debian GNU/Linux kernel-headers package for your kernel.

Then it does work with older than 2.4 kernels... I find a bit strange that he didn't get an already configured kernel tree from the editor of his distro... well... my mistake.

That's correct, current versions of the NVIDIA driver still officially support Linux 2.2. I don't know what the default configuration status of Debian GNU/Linux kernel-source packages is, unfortunately, but the kernel-headers packages should be sufficient to build the NVIDIA driver against.
