Mass Effect is AWESOME. Got ME2 for free with BF3, and played through it 3 times in a span of like a week or something awesome characters, awesome story, awesome soundtrack.
Assassin's Creed is also tons of fun. Haven't played the newest one yet...

Edit: NVM, already previously mentioned. The time between when I loaded this thread and typed out my response and submitted was too great.

batman should not be passed up just because it's a console title. great game, even on PC.

also, if you want an intriguing SP, you shouldn't pass up on Teh Witcher(s).

If you like RTS you should hunt around for Empire Earth. It's a really old game but GOG.com had it for free a few weeks back. We've been playing it recently and it is a pretty good game.

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/empir...h_gold_edition

For $6 it's like getting Age of Empires and C&C Red Alert at the same time.

The only thing is that you need to have a bit of time to play it. If we play 2 v 1 or 3 v 1 against a medium computer player, the round usually takes 2 - 3 hours. The AI is pretty resilient in this game so if you don't completely wipe them out they rebuild very quickly and will start attacking again.

I am by no means a comic book fan, nor do I follow the stories of any comic book heroes/villains, but the game is just VERY polished, and VERY fun. I eventually played it because so many recommended it to me, and I was not disappointed one bit. Just like if a person has never heard of the Quake series, and asked for a modern shooter recommendation, you would recommend Quake 4 because the game is so fun.

Hmmm interesting thread. I knocked off 33 games last year (too much free time lol, part time work), all of them single player.

Ghost busters was surprising fun. (played with controller)
Crysis 2 was a good game, despite all the hate.
Do you like arcade style games?

Pretty much ditto on the batman games. I had zero intent to play the first one and passed on it. I caved to the countless 10/10 reviews and glowing reviews far across the internets and got it for the 360 first in the bargain bin at EB games.

Absolutely amazing. I am still kicking myself for not giving it a fair shot.

I've only played a couple hours of Arkham City and it's equally amazing though WAY huger enviroment and you truly feel a sense of freedom being able to grapple/fly all over the city instead of in small confined areas.

I picked up Batman AA for 4.99 during the steam sale. Wow is this game something. Even after two years the graphics really impress and the physx effects really are spectacular.

I seriously think that these are the best looking games that use the unreal engine. It's the number 1 argument against people that say the unreal engine is ugly and dumbed down for consoles.

I've been enjoying the coop in Saints row 3 very much this passed week. Maybe give that a go if you want some coop action. The entire single player campaign and all the side missions all work in coop.
The SP/Coop is seamless too, so you can take your save to either. Its fun game but i think the story in the second game was better and had better and more side missions.

During the last few days of the steam holiday sales I also picked up Ridd1ck Assault on dark Athena.
That too might be your cup of tea if you have not already played it.

X3 series is very nice and a huge time sink but isn't for everyone.
It's a space sim with a big universe where you fight or trade. So it's not fps.
What I think is really cool about it is just how expansive it is and becomes. You usually start out with a small class fighter ship, do odd missions, engage in some trading to make more credits, then buy bigger ships and start to automate them to do your trade runs etc to the point where you eventually can build your own factories and space stations and at the same time expand your fleet, space ships ranges from very small scout classes all the way up to huge carriers and battle cruisers all of which you can own, pilot or assign as wingmen. Each game has a single player story campaign but you'll still do all of these things as you progress through it. Or it can be played without story in various starting rolls like trader, fighter or pirate. It's a huge time sink but I love this series and the freedom you have there.
The learning curve is also much more steep then what one is used to in games these days I'd say.

Also as others here have mentioned, Mass Effect series. IMO you won't get much better sci-fi games then those. The back story and attention to detail in the tech is amazing I think and much of it "makes sense" and doesn't sound too implausible giving the series a sound foundation which to build it's strong story upon.

Wow... thanks for all of the replies ya'll.

I'm thining ME 1 and 2 are the games I need to look two. X3 sounds interesting even if not a first-person game. Also I'm thinking of hunting down a copy of Elite Force II. Between those and Skyrim I should be busy for a while.

Thanks again ya'll.
