Default Driver source?

whats with the lack of source code?

I have the driver source for version 1.0-4363 in two parts - kernel and glx.

I see there is no link to download sources for the newer versions anymore on the website - what gives?

You never could download source for the binary driver, what you downloaded is source for the binary driver - to - kernel interface that built itself to work. The nVidia drivers aren't open source.

Instead, they've implemented an installer which uses the separate tarballs to build it for you.
