Hello, recently my friend purchased a new machine that he built himself but not knowing he bought a Asus M4A78LT-M LE which has a 95watt TDP on the mobo itself. With that he ended up buying a 125 watt CPU so now i'd bet if the CPU was outputting at 90% - 100% usage it would be way over the 95 watt TDP. So, I was wondering if i could disable one of the cores or lower the CPU speed to 2.8 ghz or something to reduce the amount of wattage going to the CPU. Will that help or is there something else i can do?
He really doesnt wanna go buy a new MOBO at this time so im just trying to think of the best possibilites of action. Thanks

just check the bios options. Under clocking should be possible (just select a lower multiplier), under volting would be even better, but you need to test for stability. Not all CPU accept to run at stock at lower voltage...
