I always figured a positive pressure build was the preferred way to keep dust from building up too bad inside the case. I always had a little bit extra intake then out.

The illustrations is a bit confusing assuming the arrows also corresponds to the amount of air being pushed because then the "negative" pressure illustration is actually positive and vice versa.
Been a long time since i heard any discussion on the topic though!

The white arrows are probably illustrating the pressure, ie: positive or negative.

The white arrows are the air intake/exhaust from the case through the leaks
In the case of positive air pressure, any leak will see air leaving the case.
Opposite, in the case of negative pressure, any opening will get air inside (and dust).

You need to be as close to balanced as possible for good airflow. A slight positive is better to keep dust out (if you have intake filters).
