I know you're drawn in by the thought of having a super-mega-uber rig nate (trust me, we all are) but I think you can replace some of those parts with cheaper ones that will perform just as well, and then reinvest the savings in other areas (e.g. 2nd gpu).
For example, the EE chip you bought doesn't offer much of an advantage over a 3930K, which is $400 cheaper. Your motherboard can be replaced with this Gigabyte board to save you a couple hundred bucks. Then, you can pickup two 7970's for about the same cost as the parts in the OP. You'll still have insane performance and a rig everyone can drool over. ![]() |

TBH I think you're wasting some money with the build. Vin is right the extreme edition is not worth it at all.
Why not go sandybridge with a 2500k/2600k? You're getting 0 performance increase with that chip, and until consoles come out that are sporting 6 core chips I doubt you will in the time that you own the chip. Also why the H60 instead of the 80/100 on such an intense rig? You could cut that chip, and board, and get a damn good sandy bridge WITH a 7970 and blow your current rig outta the water, or get a second 480 for sli. |
