The log-in image?

I'm just wondering what image format, and where the image is that shows up when X server starts up.

I'd like to change it but I can't seem to find it.

I'm using twinview and it centers this graphic, so it spans across two monitors, rather ugly.

There is no image when the X server starts, unless you mean the nVidia logo.

There may be an image when your window manager starts, or when you use a display manager there may be an image from there.

First you need to find out what display manager or window manager you are running (a display manager displays a loginbox and is called something ending in "dm", like xdm or kdm). The window manager displays your icons, taskbar, popmenus etc.

When you know what program is displaying it, it could be possible to change it.

I'm talking about the Nvidia logo (shoulda specified).

I use xfce4 which doesn't have a startup screen. My DM is gdm, which has nice themeing capabilities....anyway

Yeah the nvidia logo on startup.

You can turn that OFF. Using this option:

Option "NoLogo" "on"

I don't want it off, I just want to change it to something a little better, like a 3d version of the logo, then center it so that it shows up on my left screen only, instead of spanned between the two.
