Change Black Bar Color on 4:3 Content w/VDPAU?

Hello,
Just wondering if there is a way to change the black bar color shown when using various vdpau applications (ie, mplayer and mythtv) to playback 4:3 content non-stretched on a widescreen display.

I have a new plasma, and I am concerned about burn in / image retention over the long run since I watch a fair amount of 4:3 content. In principal I know pixel shifting will help the issue, but in reality black bars over the long run will wear the TV unevenly.

Yes there is. In your xine config you should see the following:

# vdpau: color of none video area in output window
# numeric, default: 0
#video.output.vdpau_background_color:0

A good value that should age the pixels pretty evenly is 8421504.

Thanks for the info and color recommendation! Do you happen to know if there is a way to set this globally? My setup is pretty heavily invested in mythTV and mplayer, so I'd like to avoid switching to xine just for this one feature.
