Default Monitor not seeing P.C. till reset.

Hi Guys, Hoping you might be able to help me out here.

I've just upgraded my graphics card from a pair of GTX 285 to a 6990. Really impressed with the card and it's running perfect.

Problem I've got it when I fire up my P.C. the monitor isn't seeing my P.C. it scans all the ports but doesn't see the card/p.c. if I press the reset button it fires up and there is no problem.
Connection is via the DVI port.

Here is the full spec of my p.c.

Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos/1000W Corsair HX Series
ASUS P6T Deluxe - Intel i7 920 @ 3600Mhz.
ATI sapphire 6990 (was SLi 1GB BFG Tech GTX 285 OCX)
6GB (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3, PC3-12800 (1600) CAS 8-8-8-24
500 GB Samsung Spinpoint F1/30GB solid state OCZ Core Series V2 SSD
LG GGC-H20L
Razer DeathAdder Left-Hand Edition
Razer BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard
HP LP2475W
Windows 7 home Premium 64

I'm douting it's a driver issue as it's not even booting to bios or anything, But I'm willing to stand corrected :-)

I've the latest drivers from AMD on the card.

Have you tried plugging to a different DVI port ?
You 6990 card is a dual GPU and sometimes, they do not recognize on which port is the monitor plugged quite correctly.

Only has a single DVI port, although it does have 4 mini display ports. Might give them a try!

Any news? Did anything help your case?
Always great if you can post back what worked for you, as it can help the next person with the same problem...

No Still got the same problem, Changed over to a mini displayport with a DVi adaptor, Still go the same problem.

Temp. solution at the moment is turn the P.C. on then press reset after about 5 seconds.

Silly question, but is the bios set to use PCI express first and have you tried another slot to see if it persists?

TBH I've not checked, but as the cards that came out where PCIe I'd imagine it is.

Might try putting it in the second slot, TBH I didn't realise you could do that.

The other slot should work fine, it's mainly for troubleshooting purposes, but I agree with you on the bios option - it should work just the same. Checking it out can help you rule out that as an issue though. I like to eliminate the easier possibilities when trouble shooting.

Little problems like this drive me bat-pooh crazy though, so I wish you best of luck with it.

Just curious how you made out with this. Any resolution on it?

Well so far so good, Installed the card into the second slot and all seems to be running O.K. up to now.

Sounds like an issue with that slot. If performance is ok for you in the second slot you could call it a day unless it acts up again.
