run of the mill oc for a 2500K is 4.4 and 5 for a good one but I think that's the best 5% of those produced.

I was talking about a 2400 or a 2500 not a K and use the BLCK like on a i7-920,but from the reviews I have seen they do not overclock worth a damm unless you get the unlocked ones so you can ajust the multipler.something about how the memory controller is used

![]() I've not ever tried to OC this chip, never felt the need. Bought it at the tail end of '09 and it's still more than I need. Gotta' say though, I've been watching The IT Crowd on Netflix and it's consuming most of my free time. ![]() |

yea i am really glad i got this CPU as well, although the Q9550 would have been a good choice too. but if greedo upgrades, i might have to upgrade too... i hate when that rebel nerf herder has a better computer than me...

For the price of a i7-2600K ,I could go with a i7-3820 and a 2011 socket motherboard for $30 more ,would that be a better deal since I have read that it overclock on the BCLK better then a 2500K or a 2600K.Most say they can overclock the BCLK to 125mhz or more and the 2600K does good to do even 5mhz over.

BLCK is irrelevant with 2600k, Sticking with what you do with the 920 isn't a good reason for anything.
If you only want to do 2 card SLI gaming I'm not sure you should bother upgrading cpu ect, I'd spend the money on graphics cards. If you are planning on quad SLI PCI-e 3.0 **** then yeah do it.

My i7-920 or my motherboard gigabyte EX58-UD5 is bad ,it went though a very hot fire and I am surprised it lasted a little over a year before acting up ,I done tried new memory ,power supply and a different hardrive ,so the only thing I can think of is a Bad CPU or my motherboard since some of the memory holders were slitely melded. If the were nothing wrong with it I would stick with it ,but as it is I need a new CPU and motherboard .I don't like how the 1155 just has 24 lanes and the 2011 has 40 lanes, allowing for better upgrades.
