2gb is plenty for single monitor.

aren't you missing things? is not a fair comparison

GTX 8800->GTX9800->GTX280
between GTX 280 and 580, there was 285?, 480, and then 580. your skipping generations.

Yeah. If you still go 285 to 480, its still a 100% perf increase. Same with 285 to 580. Same with GTX 9800 to GTX 280 iirc.

The 680 GTX really needs 4GBs of frame buffer to be a total beast.

I'm going to be ordering the 4GB 680 GTX Classified as it's 14 Phase PWM Design from EVGA

The 590 GTX kepts beating it when there wasn't enough onboard memory in higher resolutions. The extra 2GBs of memory should pull it ahead quite a bit.

For launch cards these aren't too badly priced, but not worth it just yet to upgrade my 590GTX, might just wait for the 690GTX. :: If it comes.

Yep, even more so when the next gen Unreal Engine games start arriving. Not sure what else is on the horizon that would really push the card (Euro made FPSes, Metro perhaps?). I guess multiscreen and high hes 3D gaming will always push PC hardware. I added high res 3D gaming so it isn't confused with console 3D gaming with appears to drop the res from 720p to 480p ::

If you're expecting pubic hair that rustles in the breeze then you've been dating some really shaggy women who take straighteners to their v-jayjays.

you will be fine, really. Check this alienbabeltech review, they used i7 920 @ 4ghz
http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=28910&page=4

but im kinda surprised they stripped out 1PWM, now its only 4 instead of original 5, why? was 1 extra using that much power?

doesnt this also translate in less OC and more strain on those PWM and shorter longevity?

Although i saw one saying they (OC freaks) managed some ultra OC with LN2 1800mhz+..

I know here was a big deal with 570gtx and only 4pwn, that's why i went with 6+1 , guess it doesn't matter anymore?
