Install new driver failed (4496)

I am running Rehat Linux 8.0 and just upgrade my kernel from 2.4.18.27.8.0 to 2.4.20-20.8. My video card type is Nvidia Quadro4 900XGL, 128MB. After updating the kernel, I reboot my system, ofcourse I couldn't start X server. Therefore, I download the newdriver, NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4494.pkg2.run, from Nvidia's site, then issue the command as it say in the README file. After accepted license, it doesn't install because some error messages popped during this installation. Here they are:

Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface
-> License accepted.
-> There appears to already be a driver installed on your system (version: 1.0-
4363). As part of installing this driver (version: 1.0-4363), the existing
driver will be uninstalled. Are you sure you want to continue? ('no' will a
bort installation) (Answer: Yes)
-> No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; would you li
ke the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel f
rom the NVIDIA ftp site (ftp://download.nvidia.com)? (Answer: Yes)

this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface for
your kernel.
ERROR: Unable to find the kernel header files for the currently running kernel.
Please make sure you have installed the kernel header files for your

'kernel-source' rpm installed. If you know the correct kernel header

Could you tell me what can I do to make this work? Any advice and suggestion I'm really appreciated.

You must install nvidia drivers with graphical interface off, if you have not done so.
Upon restart of the computer type "init = 3" as boot option. Login as root and do "sh NVIDIA....pkg2.run".
This has worked for me. Make a copy of the old
XF86Config file (just in case the setup does not work).

Of course I run it under single mode user (init = 3)

Okay, this could mean upgrading the Redhat kernel makes problems as is the case with SuSE linux.

Have a look at:

and try one of the solutions offered there.

maybe do what it tells you to do and install the kernel headers rpm(!)

then rerun the installer

Yeah there is a Linux forum guys, professional graphics card does not mean you are running your card under Linux

Neither does it mean you must be running under XP, does it?.... Here is were I hoped to find professionals and not players. In addition, I was counting on somewhat more input from the NV guys themselves, but this hope was not justified.
