http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...tml#post620341 Here are some rumored (and hopeful) cut prices 7970 - $479 (3GB) 7950 - $379 or $359 (3GB or 1.5GB) 7870 - $299 (2GB) 7850 - $229 (2GB) If a 7850 goes $229 it will be mine!

At $300 that 7870 is looking delicious, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay that for it.
I dunno, think I'm kinda' biased. I got this 5870 so cheap yet I'm so pleased with its performance. I almost don't want to upgrade because of that. Really don't think I'd feel the 7870 was a $300 upgrade over my 5870, if that makes sense. ![]() |

7850 is same chip as 7870. Both can't OC past 1050 (unless, you use Asus GPU tweak). When both OC to max, the 7850 is 3-5% behind. It's why I want the 7850. $229?

These are the prices the cards should've launched with. I blame nV for once again being late to table for the ludicrous pricing the 7900's launched with.

Honestly I was expecting the 7770 to be more on par with my 5870, the 7870 to be faster than the 6970 by about 10 - 20%, and the 7970 to on average double the performance of the 6970. Well, that's what I was *hoping* for at least. Didn't quite pan out. Good cards, yes, but I just can't justify such a small performance jump for that price. I'd benefit more by putting my money else where. ![]() EDIT: My only complaint is I have to play without AA in some titles which isn't too big a deal anyways. However, if I find a very good deal on a second 5870 I may just go CrossFire. I paid $90 for this 5870 and if I come across another one for about the same price... find me a current solution for the same price that'd offer that level of performance. Closest match would be the 7850 after this price drop but it's not gonna' compete with dual 5870s. ![]() |

It appears the price cuts aren't so dramatic!
Oh well, as much as I would like a new GPU I really wasn't leaning towards upgrading anyways. ![]() EDIT: I read that news article wrong- the 7970 will go for about $480 and the 7950 about $400. So the 7870 and 7850 maybe just as the OP stated. ![]() |
