The headless option is UseDisplayDevice "None", but as you said it's restricted to non-GeForce cards right now.

Does that mean that if the patch is resubmitted, it'll actually be accepted? Is it even possible without the sign-off from all people that have code in dma-buf? What about those who were against it (Arnd and Mauro), have they changed their stance?

I don't know.

Nvidia would need to restart the ACK and approval cycle by resubmitting the patch, which they haven't done.

Hi,

Regarding this issue discussed here. It wont work using the Nvidia proprierty driver. It works very fine to use the open source Noveau driver with the Nvidia graphic card. Just install bumblebee packages and remove everything regarding Nvidia in connection with the bumblebeee packages and bumblebee will use the Noveau open source driver instead of the Nvidia proprierty driver. Then you can use the Intel graphic chip and when you want to take use of the Nvidia graphic chip instead you can just run the application with optirun.

Why would it not work with the proprietary driver? New drivers were released since the thread was started, and they include 675M support.

I have the same laptop (Clevo p150em).

The nvidia driver won't initialize in Xorg because it doesn't detect any displays, thus it doesn't work with Bumblebee.

Sorry to say, if you own this laptop you're screwed. Nvidia has said multiple times to **** off, they have no intention of supporting us.

This makes no sense. It's exactly because of this (the nvidia card isn't connected to the internal display, the very point of Optimus) that Bumblebee was created for.

Yes, which is quite a conundrum.

Apparently the ability to operate headless is one of the features they only enable on Quadro cards.

Even if the driver would allow "UseDisplayDevice "none" on non-Quadro cards, you'd still need Bumblebee. X isn't capable of supporting Optimus properly and it won't be until xorg-server-1.13 with xrandr1.5 is released.

Headless operation should be allowed on display-less chips regardless of Quadro designation for the upcoming release, so Bumblebee should be unblocked on a number of configurations.
