The dark side...well, red side

Yep, this is the first AMD/ATI card I have bought since the Rage II. I have gotten my money's worth, on this EVGA 260 GTX. Had it for 4 years!

Last night I purchased the Sapphire 7850, should be here before the weekend.

Oh yeah, Newegg got new shipments in.

The last time I owned an ATI card, this was the specs: LOL
60 MHz core
up to 83 MHz SGRAM memory
480 MB/s memory bandwidth
DirectX 5.0

I am excited, as this card is as fast as a GTX 580 (when OC'ed), coming from a 260 GTX, should be a tremendous jump.

You will be happy.

Also, the ATI drivers are pretty good, even though people will typically have you believe the opposite.

I agree with ViN. Since the 4xxx series AMD has really been on the ball. The 7800 is fantastic.

I hope so, playing Skyrim on 1920x1200 on MEDIUM quality and NO AA/AF is getting ridiculous.

quadruple the framerate of my 260GTX! For only $256 shipped. I paid $254.99 for my 260, 4 years ago.

In Skyrim, I "was" playing 1920x1200 on MEDIUM quality. I now can play the same res, but with 8xAA/16xAF everything on ultra high (I might even go Chuck Norris high!), and it's smoother. I haven't checked the FR yet. However when I applied the hi-rez texture pack, it brought it down alot.

rFactor went from 83fps(max),no AA/AF to 292fps (max)8AA/16AF.

This is still on STOCK 860mhz clocks. I plan OCing to 1200mhz

Even the desktop is more crisp, and IQ is improved.

I think this calls for a banana.
