After 6 months of research & development, this is the first public release.
Special thanks to the game developers & publishers (Terminal Reality & Majesco) for allowing me to release this patch. You can download it at: http://www.coopdb.com/modules.php?name=BR2fsaa This is dedicated to all the BloodRayne fans. If you need technical help, or if you've any question or suggestion, please, post them at the official forum of the patch (http://www.coopdb.com/modules.php?na...iewforum&f=25), to keep everything at the same place. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you very much & enjoy playing with Rayne ! Update 21/07/2007 (Version 0.6) This new version adds custom resolution setup, with aspect ratio fix. Now you can play at 1280x720, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, 2560x1600, ... any custom resolution. Also you can use wider FOV for true widescreen gaming. And it has no performance hit. ![]() Thank you very much & enjoy playing with Rayne ! Update 03/08/2007 (Version 0.9) This new version adds enhanced dynamic shadows & reflections. Beyond FSAA, this is the first true quality enhancement, with respect to the default quality in the game. You can customize the quality of both features for proper performance & video memory usage. ![]() ![]() Thank you very much & enjoy playing with Rayne ! Update 13/10/2007 (Version 1.0) This new version adds enhanced blood pools reflections, enhanced transparent water, enhanced blood fields, enhanced aura vision, ... some little options, and a configuration tool for the patch. I used this patch with my 5 USD complete copy and it works great. That was my one knock on the game, the fact that it was jaggy as hell.

Nice work walterman. Am I correct in guessing the Steam version is out of luck for this patch?

At the moment, i know that the patch works with Vista too.
I haven't the steam version, but, it should work (in theory), if you put the .dll in the same folder, with the .exe. Maybe i'll buy it too. As for the widescreen support, i've working code for the custom resolution setup, & to change the aspect ratio, but, there's an important performance hit & there're some bugs with the aura powers & with the 2D objects in the HUD, therefore, till i have some new good ideas, this feature is dropped, mainly due to the performance. And about the performance, the game uses up to 12 rendering passes sometimes, & some of them are for the bloom effects. Therefore, you need a lot of video memory bandwidth, and this is why i always have been complaining about the slow progress of the gfx cards in this area. At the moment, with 100GB/s you've the minimum for 1280x1024 with SSAA 2x. If SLI works, maybe you could play at 1920x1200, & i keep waiting for cards with >300GB/s for 2560x1600.

Thanks for the patch!!
I have never been a big fan of what bloom looks like in many games. As far as I have seen it is not wortth the performance hit. But then again maybe I would change my mind if the hit was not so bad. (or the devs implemented bloom better)

If a game needs 100 gb/sec - especially one as old as Bloodrayne2 - then the fault lies with the engine and not the hardware. |

100 GB/s for 1280x1024 with SSAA 2x, equals to 1280*2 x 1024*2 = 2560 x 2048 rendering (4x times bigger), then shrinking to 1280x1024 (Super Sampling AA). It's huge rendering resolution, and the patch has an extra performance hit, cause it isn't native. So, 4*25GB/s makes sense for SSAA 2x. This is just my personal taste, cause, i love to play with this image quality, and i need 120 fps minimum for this game. I'm not going to tell anybody how to play or spend his money. Just try to enjoy ![]()

![]() You simply can't multiply the resolution however and determine what bandwidth you need, even with SSAA there are optimizations which come into play with newer cards. |

![]() And yes, of course, there're a lot of optimizations, to save 'bandwidth' ![]()
