here is a better comparison screenshot: same settings.

There is some difference though. All the shadowy parts seems darker in these shots than with the other shots posted. Hmm. Must be the 51.75 drivers I'm using. Is it the fog effects? 15 fps to 56 fps? I haven't tried it with the 45.23's. Maybe I'll try it later or over the weekend.

oh thats fast, 51.75 seems to fix it. is it just me or does anyone think these 51.75 screenshots look a lot less foggy on the whole scene too?

Hm.. After a few tests, I've found that the fog seems to have been disabled. Anyone can test this by setting the "world detail" level to High. Not highest. A setting of "high" gets rid of the whole scene fog. While "highest" enables the fog to be on the whole scene. But somehow with these new drivers, setting it to "high" or "highest" makes no difference. I'm gonna try to test it with the 45.23's later.

Driver bug or "optimization"... Considering these are beta, I'll give nvidia the benefit of the doubt. But you can rest assured I'll test it again when the Official Det50's are out. On a side note though, how can less fog increase the FPS so much? Everything else pretty much looks nice.

Maybe if someone with both cards can test out which effects are missing and which aren't.

Here's another shot in the same place. The textures look fine to me. It's only the full scene fog is missing.

I'd also like anyone to post some DM-Rustatorium shots so I can compare it to my own. See if anything is missing from that map.

there seem to be some missing details from textures too, such as those in red circles.
fivefeet8, i dont have access to my PC until the end of this month so i cant give you some rustatorium screenshots anytime soon. what kind of performance are you getting on rustatorium? flavius reported very low fps on that map with 5900.

I think the fog in those UT2003 screenshots is not uniform and I also think it's made with DX8 pixel shaders. Maybe nVidia has replaced the pixel shaders with faster versions, and there is a bug in the new fog shader? It'll be fixed in the shipping version of the drivers, anyway.

god knows how many things are actually working correctly with 5900 drivers these days
its like either performance is broken or IQ is broken

That's sorta nitpicking, but I'd say the loss of the full scene fog is the culprit. And I was wrong before. Setting the "world detail" to highest only affects the fog emminating from the central light. The full scene fog is suppose to be there all the time with any setting.

As for Rustatorium, with the 51.75's I'm getting very high FPS. Check out these comparison shots:

http://www.geocities.com/pao_vang5f8/Screenshots/PC.htm

The most affected seems to be the fog in Icetomb, while everything else seems the same but running at much higher FPS.
