UT2K3 DM-Icetomb performance feedback needed ASAP!

thanks for the screenshots. rustatorium seems to have double the performance gain by going to 51.75 from 45.23.
its too hard to see what have been changed in rustatorium with 51.75 by just judging from your SS, they are taken with too different positions. but i hope it is not another IQ compromising optimization. i am not too nitpicking on IQ, but you are going to get worrying performance on many siturations that are not optimized by nvidia.

Using Barton 2800+, KT266A, FX 5800, Det45.23 Quality.

The ~70% drop for 4X AA/8X AF seems abnormally heavy.

I took them in generally the same place. The fps difference is considerable though. I was also trying to get shots of the light effects and see if there was a difference with them. Seems like those are haven't changed. Also the Pixel Shaded oil effects doesn't seem to be changed in any way as well. The shiny reflective metal in DM-Rustatorium also look the same as with the 45.23's. But of course it runs much faster now.

I don't think nvidia can optimize every game, but from my testing of these 51.75's, most of my PC games seems to be running noticeably faster. Some have gained as much as 15-20 fps from the previous 45.23's. Most noticeable in Need For Speed Hp2.

usually nvidia's IQ lowering optimization involves only a little bit of IQ reduction, its not something easy to spot if you dont put the same frames side by side to check.

they can globally apply "optimizations" if they want, like they force disable trilinear filtering in ut2k3 and forced lower fp precision in previous drivers.

That does appear to be the case with my own testing. But the FPS gained is very noticeable. Maybe I'll nit pick a little and retake a few screens to really compare DM rustatorium. I'll post them on that site when I have time.

Seems to be very little differences except for the FPS counter.

BTW ChrisRay. I used the ATi driver feedback form from your sig to ask for Digital Vibrance and SS AA.

yeah they are much better comparison shots. i still see a little more blurriness or a little missing something from the 51.75 shots tho but they are very minimal.

No, but that might be part of it.
