Samsung's Kies software. The article says you can get the ICS upgrade over that but not over the air.

Ok, got the new version of software installed on pc. It says it will update software but wants to remove all settings and files, and i don't want to do that . Can i update to the new version withought loosing my stuff?

Are you rooted? If so you can use titanium backup.

No, i don't root the device. I am going through Kiez like you said, and it says: I have to delete stuff and do update. I will just call Tmobile and see what they say.

You can go to xda-developer to find out how to root your phone....it is pretty simple to do...

Thanks guys, i just wanna update the phone and not lose anything on the device. I use to update phones before with android versions and all i had to do was, change screen settings , but everything else was their.

You can backup all your files on the SD card with a usb cable and if your sync is enabled Google will keep track of your apps, but you will lose your settings and specific app data.

The reason we recommend rooting your phone is so you can use titanium backup to backup your apps and it will save your app settings.
