I had a notebook drive a while back I was wondering the same thing about. Don't remember the brand, but running a screw into each hole did the trick.

geez, I hope they don't start changing specs all of a sudden

took the drive out and tried to correct the threads with a screw. the screws went in fine. The pegs still dont want to slide into the hole....how tight of a fit is it supposed to be? Should i be able to push the pegs in as far as i want? because I can't

edit: finally got it in right. Just had to push those pegs in and out really hard a few times and they went in farther. It prolly smashed the threads a bit but that doesn't really matter if I'm not using them anyways.

Those pegs shouldn't have to go in too far, but it does sound like they are being a bit stubborn. I've had to push on the tray a little bit after I clipped both sides on for a few drives. Mainly just put one side in first, then pry the other side and slide the drive down and in.

That sounds about like the issue I had with them - stubborn little bastids sometimes. I'd bet if you had to use screws at any point those threads would clean right up for you.

Glad you got it.

I may get banned for this, but seriously, no one is going to take a "that's what she said" swipe at that? Seriously? ..sighs..
