Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 notebook (P3-1GHz, 512MB RAM, 48GB HD, etc.) with an nVidia GeForce2 Go display adapte, and recently installed Red Hat Linux 9 on it. I want to run two X screens on my two displays, the notebook's built-in LCD and an external flat panel monitor. I followed the instructions in the README for the nVidia drivers, but it doesn't work. When I start X, the NVidia comes up on the laptop LCD, the caps and scroll lock keys start flashing, and the machine totally hangs. I see nothing of particular interest in the logs. For what it's worth, I _was_ successful in setting up the DualView feature on this system. I'm just curious if I'd like having the two separate X screens better. Any ideas? I'm posting the offending XF86Config file below. Thanks, Martin --- # XFree86 4 configuration created by pyxf86config Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 Screen 1 "Screen1" leftOf "Screen0" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" EndSection Section "Files" # RgbPath is the location of the RGB database. Hi,
I had exactly the sqme problem as you... Now it works, the origin of th problem was that one of the monitor was bad configured. To fix it I run an XF86Config with only one screenm device and monitor. and selecting the external CRT and LCD by the Fn+CRT/LCD keys. I autodetected the monitor type and frequencies for each of them and write both settings of the two monitors. After that I checked the XF86Config and putted the right settings, now it works!! I've noticed you have 1600x1200 as higher resolution of your LCD. Maybe if you adjust both to a lower resolution it work directly just try 1024x768 as maximum in both screen sections (my panel in a Dell 8200 is 1450x1050) surely your fail is there because you have copied that from the Nvidia Text file. Good Luck |
