Default Nvidia linux driver problem

well, i've installed the nvidia linux drivers, and after i edit my xf86config it says it was unable to load /dev/nvidiactl (divice not found) but it's showing it in the dir...

The error device not found indicates that the character device file isn't backed by a driver; in all likelyhood, this means that the NVIDIA kernel module isn't loaded.
