Screen freeze NVRM: Xid error

Screen freezes with flashing pixels the mouse still moves but the system is unresponsive(screen shot attached). The only thing I can do at that point is a hard restart. I have attached a copy of what I think is the problem from var/log/messages below. I updated the nvidea drivers but have found that the older driver 290.10 gave less frequent problems however once a day or so I have to do a restart. I am running OpenSuse 11.4 64 bit. Any help of this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
