295.53 and 302.11 drivers both have a "text consoles are dead" issue.
302.11 - doesn't work with suspend for a lot of us. Aaron, Zander and other NVIDIA engineers, can you please release updated 290.xx drivers for new kernels and X.org versions? To NV forums users: if you like this idea please leave a message in this thread. |

I second this, i hacked some installation files and used 290.10 with 3.4 kernel (pae) + xorg-server 1.12.2 with ignoreabi, but i've had a kernel freeze after some minutes of use.
Now with 295.53 i've blank tty after a while and i'm using a second Xorg server as a tty replacement. Still, hibernation is a pain because it uses tty. |

Seriously... We cannot expect them to resume an old piece of software that has some security vulnerabilities too... Better to wait a bit IMHO, but i definitely hope that 30x series will be released only when every nasty regression is fixed...

vaccaaa,
There's a serious flaw in your reasoning since there's no regression at all: Quote:

@artem,
we're still talking about non-VGA consoles. |

hopefully the stability issues with gpus <=G80 get also fixed soon a release that fixes a bug instead of introducing a load of new regressions would be nice ![]() |

+1 from me to.
I need my tty's and I think it is shocking some of us are experiencing this. Not everyone has a newer card. I've been advised to use the 290* series instead, which is what I have done. So far today I have had over 10 nvidia-tls segfaults. !!!!! Sure, I have my consoles now, just that my window manager crashes about 10 times a day now. Geeez. ![]() |

In drivers 295.59 persist this problem. In the 290.xx NO problem. I have kernel 3.4.1. |

Do you know what I mean? I'm going to put the kernel 3.2.20 with 290.10 and otherwise butterfly. Why not take the instability that is making Linux drivers.
