can't install old det's after 40.41's

ok, this is knida weird but...
i have a clean install of xp pro with the only det's [ever] installed being the 40.41's.
of course the ut2003 demo has serious issues with these drivers. so i uninstalled them [in safe mode, from the add/remove applet] went to install the 30.82's and xp disabled my gf4.
i cannot install any drivers but the 1's that come with xp.
so... any ideas???
i want to be able to install the 30.82's.
how can i clean [every] last little bit of code to do with these drivers so i can start afresh?

1. Win XP driver guide by Rumple and;
2. Useful tips that should be added to winXP guide.
these will help you to get rid of all the remnants from the old drivers to ready your machine for the 30.82's
