tv-out working?

How could I get my tv-out to work ?

I have:
a GeForce 4 MX 440 video card (noname).
2.4.21 kern
debian sarge
lspci output desn't say anything about a second nvidia device (as I saw it should in the readme file from the drivers)

I have the same type of card, but I didn't see anything in the nvidia driver readme mentioning that. If you're using the nvidia driver (ie. you see the nvidia splash screen when X starts), just plug in your tv out, unplug your CRT, and it should work - it does for me, anyway. (or you could add Option "ConnectedDevices" "TV"as mentioned in appendix J of the Readme to accomplish the same effect.)

If you're trying to get TV Out working with the generic nv driver as opposed to the official nvidia one, good luck. There's supposedly an old program on SourceForge called nvtv to deal with TV Out using that driver, but I've never tried it. (I'm tempted right now, though -- I've been having severe stability problems with the nvidia drivers recently... <sigh>)

I suggest you install nvtv and use that instead of fiddling around in your XF86Config. I've used it for a long time and it works very well.

I was thinking of something like tv-out secondary display in twin-view...
Anybody managed to do that?Any special requirements? (I use debian testing - not updated since the 27th of sept)

I am using the nvidia drivers (BTW the new installer kicks butt)
