for reference, here's the game running PS/VS 1.1 on my ti500... IQ on high... and for the heck of it I'm usin 44.03's right now... if it just had *a tiny bit* more oomph, it would be thoroughly playable (@ 10x7) with these IQ settings... @ 8x6 this is perfectly do-able...

As of right now, i get around 20-6X fps on my 9700Pro with AA enabled as Digital's Wanderer's/EB's method.Thats with bump mapping (gimmemore) and this and that effects!! I like Halo...and MP is downright fun!! MUYA PS- talking about bump maping Far Cry looks tasty ..seen the screen shot in a dungeon of sorts ...see the bimp mapping on that...almost looks real? At leats i think it bump mapping.

halo runs absolutely wonderfull for me, on a xp2000+, 512mb ddr, and a 9700pro. I dont know how many frames Im getting but its runs great at 1024x768 with everything cranked but the shadows, and i leave them off in all games I play almost. I am more than happy with the pc version of halo. I purchased it for xbox a while back and for some reason it made me sick to my stomach, physically, when I tried to play it. I didn't like trying to use a controller to play it either. I been setting here for 2 days playing the pc version though, and I love it

I just finished Halo...
HOLY CRAP!! That was awesome....some really nice "Oh Sh*t!" moments. After a while, I totally forgot about framerates and just enjoyed it. 1024x768 with all details maxed, 2xaf, and shadows. Truly an outstanding experience. I couldn't stop playing.

So how is the multi-player? I've heard a lot of comments about the single-player but not as much about the multi-player. Are the Banshees fun? How about the Fuel Rod Rifle and the Flamethrower? Has anyone set up a jeep race on The Silent Cartographer yet . |

I'm having a blast playing Halo on PC! I don't have XBOX so i'm new to Halo world. Considering that Gearbox only had na year to rewrite the graphics engine, write the MP I have to say that did a good job. My system:
AMD XP 2700+ (2.3Ghz) Asus nForce 2 Deluxe, 1GB 333DDR (177Mhz) MSI FX 5900 Ultra (480/900 Mhz) 45.23 SB Audigy 2 Windows 2000+ SP 4 I have all the graphics and sound maxed out, resolution 1280x960 85Mhz refresh rate, vsynch off, Aniso set to 2x, no AA and I'm getting on average between 30 - 65FPS. Granted in some situations I'm getting 15FPS but I can live with that. 3 days ago I had Asus GF4 Ti 4200 128MB and I run Halo on 1152x864 everything maxed out using Pixel Shader 1.4 (-use14) and I was getting around 20 - 40 FPS. I believe Halo graphics engine needs more tweaking and optimizing, Gearbox didn't have enough time to tweak the engine. There is a big change between Halo 1.0 and Halo 1.01 and I believe the engine will be futher optimized this week. Looks like Support for Halo is growing so I believe is time goes on Halo will get better and better...I I think Halo will have a huge following. Hopefully big enough for Gearbox to Port Halo 2. |

As far as Halo's story being so-so, check out this and this.. There is a ton of really intricate work between the Marathon series and Halo. Granted, Marathon's had more work done, but there are connections to Halo and whether or not the two are as intertwined as I think it is, it certainly is something special. ![]() Or at least I think it is. I unabashedly love the game, and am therefore pretty biased. But don't say that the story ain't good until you can look at my sig and tell me what it has to do with Halo (hint: Kill Your Television). You'll have a lot of fun along the way... especially when you get to meet "a friend of a friend". ![]()

anyways I saw those sites last time you posted them and it seems interesting enough. Its just that INGAME, there is not much to it. compare this to, say, DeusEx where through the entire game you're being shoved with information about the world you're in whith even newspapers and books lying around... As for Halo - you crash on a strange ring in space, learn what it is and go away, while fighting gizmos in the process |
