Hi
I am more of a KDE user that a terminal user but did manage to fire my system up in terminal mode and excecute the installer but then met a problem . I attach the requested log file and have added the relevant (I hope) details at the top of the log Any advice would be welcome Many thanks

You should have searched for SuSE 8.2 on this forum before asking this.
But, now you should do what it says in the error log file: set the IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH variable. Type this: export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=1 and then run the installer again. |

Many thanks, it worked a treat but it now reports some header files that are missing due to me doing an athlon kernel patch earlier - but I think I may be able to solve that one myself !! (I'm going to try anyway)
Point taken about using the search, I'm a bit of a newbie to forums but willing to take good advice Best Regards Geoff
