display messed up after X shutdown
I've some X problems here. When I log out of X, my display shows some
random stuff, mostly black with some horizontal en vertical white/blue/red
lines. This happens after installing the latest nvidia drivers for the
geforce4 440 go video card on my packard bell laptop.
OS: redhat 9
driver version: 1.0-4496 (latest)
video bios revision: 04.17.00.75.23
processor: PIV 2800 Mhz
laptop: Packard Bell K5285
When working in X everything behaves normal, including 3D acceleration and vga
The system doesn't freeze either, i can startup X again or restart the
system by typing the necessary commands without seeing anything.
When switching between console and X, it also currupts the console view, but the X environment keeps displaying the right thing.
Is this just a bug in the drivers or rather my fault (configuration, ...)? (XFree86log as attachment)

Re: display messed up after X shutdown
got nearly the same problem with nvidia 5336 driver on a Quadro FX Go 1000
laptop Dell precision M60
tested with fedora core 1 (kernel 2.4.22)
and Mandrake 10 kernel 2.6.3 (all mdk kernel subversions 4, 7 and 8 give the same result)
when stopping X i have a cycling screen red/white/black/blue/green
no matter the way i use to exit X
- close session when launched by startx
- log by ssh and kill X
the screen is crashed but i can blindly login to startx or to reboot...
when using the nv driver this problem disapear.
I play with NvAGP values but nothing changed.
