Default Red Hat 9 help.

I just installed Red Hat 9(first Linux ever for me), and I need some advices. What kind of updates do I need(I have installed all the stuff that the automatic updater told me) and what kind of drivers/programs do I need to get this thing running properly?

My computer specs:

AMD XP2100+
MSI KT3 Ultra2(VIA KT333)
GF3 Ti-500
512Mb RAM
30Gb Maxtor
19" screen(eclipse EX 1981)
Sound Blaster Live! Value

I tried to install the lates Nvidia graphics drivers and they installed ok(I think), but when I try to use the "nvidia" driver instead of "nv", the computer tilts after startx command.

Post your Xfree log and and your XFree config. Remember you have in module sectiono get rid of the line that refers to "dri" in module section should look like this.
Section "Module"
Load "dbe"
Load "extmod"
Load "fbdevhw"
Load "glx"
Load "record"
Load "freetype"
Load "type1"

And Videocard should look something like this

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 4 (generic)"
VideoRam 65536
Option "NvAgp" "1"
Option "NoLogo" "on"
Option "RenderAccel" "on"
Option "DigitalVibrance" "10"

Actually the driver can just be changed to nvidia the other options I have there are not required.

Remember back up XF86Config before changing stuff.
