Default Windows 2000 SP3 - - IT'S OUT! OMG! I DON'T BELIEVE!

Yes, ladies and gents, the long awaited Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 is OUT!

Finally. Weighing in at a hefty 124 MB,this thing is no small potato! (That's about HALF the size of the ENTIRE win2k OS)

Perhaps the best fix is the one that KILLS THE NVIDIA REFRESH RATE BUG!

Here is the direct link for the Network Installer:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...-US/w2ksp3.exe

Here is a quote - www.osnews.com :
Quote:
After several months of beta testing, the most important service pack ever issued for Windows 2000 is at last available for download. The Service Pack 3 (124 MB, German here) is a collection of bug fixes that addresses all the issues that were discovered since Windows 2000 shipped. This new Service Pack 3 also adds some new features like the ability to configure the middleware and an automatic updater.

I may be going back to Win2k on my next format, so this is good news.

I'm relatively sure the 2K and XP service packs (this and the one that isn't out) kill the refresh rate bug.
They also include a bunch of stuff that adds coolness, IMO
I'm all for it

Does anyone know how 2k fares against XP as far as game compatibility now that SP3 is out?

I was told you'll be able to install App Compatiblity Toolkit 2.5 on sp3.
That's all I could say.
___
and I can say about sp3 now 'speedy. and I finally can get rid of Outlook Express'

I'll give it a couple of weeks to make sure. After NT4.0 SP2, I learned my lesson. Can not access the floppy drive more than once...wtf was up with that.
