Default AMD64 driver, NVidia 5200 and Viewsonic VX900

I'm using a Asus V9520/TD (NVidia FX5200 GPU) plugged into a ViewSonic VX900 LCD monitor (CRT connection). OS is Mandrake Linux 9.2 AMD64 RC1. This is all on a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ based system.

The 'nv' driver works OK, and NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4499 and NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4499 compile fine, but when I edit XFConfig-4 and change 'nv' to 'nvidia' and add 'load glx', a restart produces a black screen with some 'smudged' graphics at the bottom 3mm of the screen. It doesn't error out, and I can't switch to console. At this point rebooting into init 3 is the only option.

Any hints?

Default Fixed

OK, it ended up being something I should have though of a long time ago.
I added:

Option "NvAgp" "1"

to the device section in '/etc/X11/XF86Config-4'

Everything is working now, and glxgears runs fine:

[pasnak@nefarious pasnak]$ glxgears
6970 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1394.000 FPS
8086 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1617.200 FPS
8085 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1617.000 FPS
8054 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1610.800 FPS
8134 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1626.800 FPS

This was with the SuSE patch, but I rmmod the driver, unpacked the driver and built it clean, and it still works.
