Default geforce fx 5200 and suse 8.1 problems

Today i bought a fx 5200 to replace my geforce 3 ti200, i installed it in my pac.
Well i installed the latest nvidia driver and everything seems to be working but the speed is significantly slower than with my geforce 3. glzgears now gives me 917dps while with my geforce 3 it gives 4713 fps, games as UT and UT2003 are not playable with it, so i placed my old geforce 3 back in. I tried to get it working with all module options i could find in the doc files but nothing helped, anybody experienced the same problem and does anybody know what it might be that's causing the bad performance.

I'm running suse 8.1.
mobo: Gigabyte GA-8SIML pentium IV
Proc: Intel Pentium IV 2,53Ghz
Mem: 512MB DDR PC2700

I have seen several threads discussing very poor performance of the 5200 under the 44.96 driver, but don't have one to test. I think you may have to wait for the next driver release to resolve the issues.

Ah well been asking around and it seems the the fx5200 is just a crappy card, i tried it in a diff computer with windows on it and the framerates there are also terribly slow, so i'll just get rid of that card.

If as you say the GeForce3 kicks its ass that badly even in windows then it sure is a crappy card. Even the dirt cheap of the newest architecture should be better than 2 architectures old... heh. Good to know.

Yeah well i didnt expect it to be extremely fast but at least faster than my geforce 3, and some better graphics quality but none of that is true. Ah well i got a trashcan so there it'll get in.
