Default Geforce 4 TI4200 Ultra 650 TV Golden Sample

I have done some reviewing of the VGA cards and have found this article that has me interested in this board. http://www.ascully.com/modules.php?...wcontent&id=151
What is your oppinnion of this board compared to the standard TI4200. And is Gainward or Leadtek the better. I found some info on the Leadtek VGA here, but I can't find a review.
http://www.leadtek.com/graphics/a250le/a250le.htm

Would the Golden Classic board suffice for a start on the next gen computer? Will I ever be able to get this type of performance on my current rig or is there some bottleneck that I am not seeing that would make this card not exploitable in my rig? Does the 3.3ns mem make all that big of a difference than the 4ns mem? Is it worth the extra $55.00 for this card over the standard Gainward card? Same questions about the Leadtek cards?

Golden Classic: http://avlogic.com/product.cgi?code=11002245 ($161.50)

Standard: http://www.gameve.com/store/gameve_...ct=474&showit=1 ($105.00)

Leadtek GF4 TI4200 128
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewprodu...tion=14-122-150 (170.00)

Leadtek Standard: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewprodu...tion=14-122-143 ($135.00)

I like the Golden classis also because it had increased functionability. I can hook an LCD monitor to it in the future and it does offer DVI and TV. Slightly cheaper than the Leadtek too but the Leadtek has its good points too.

Last but not least - Am I even looking in the right direction?

i think that any geforce4 ti4200 128mb, is worth it. the 128mb will allow the card to last longer, even those it is currently a few frames slower than 64mb card for now at standard and lower resolutions. if you plan on getting an lcd, that get the card with the dvi and tv out. the difference in performance levels between the cards isn't that great.

whatever you do donot get a card with only 4ns memory. 3.6 should be considered the minimum because it hits 300mhz without complication.

The problem with many TI4200 128ddr cards is they come with only 4ns ram.

My advice, get the TI4400. You're guaranteed at 275/275 speed with memory capable of at least 300mhz. It's a safer bet than 4ns. Also if you look at Madonion benchmark comparisons, the TI4400 does significantly better than TI4200. The TI4600 on the other hand only performs 1% faster than TI4400 on average. Therefore, I definetly think TI4400 is the best deal.

Newegg has a beautiful MSI GF4 TI4400 Purple card for only $184us

That MSI Ti4400 is one hell of a card, and an amazing bargain...

IF you're stuck on using a Ti4200.....go with either the Ganward Golden Sample or the XFX Ti4200....

I used to be a die-hard Gainward user....then I reviewed the XFX card here and was blown away....

Both a cheap and available through Newegg......go take a look....

Good luck! Let us know what you end up with...

Its my understanding that memory and clock speed are first priorities with ability to overclock. The Gainward Golden Sample TI 4200 has 3.3ns memory compared to the MSI TI 4400 that has memory at 3.6. Wouldn't the 3.3ns memory be better? Also the clock on the Golden Sample is 250/500 and the MSI is 275/550 (I did not find these values in the MSI data sheet at their site so I will assume the 275/275). The Golden Sample is suppose to clock up to and beyond the TI 4400. If I want to OC the MSI, I will still have to get the memory heat sinks and a larger fan than the stock fan.

Is it worth the $190.00 for the MSI plus the extra stuff for OC'ing vs the $152.00 complete for the Golden Sample? I know that the extra $38.00 plus gets another 64 MB of memory and other stuff like 10.6 BG/sec BW instead of 8 GB/sec BW on the Golden Sample. Will my system even be able to take advantage of the TI4400 let alone the TI4200?

Even if I upgrade next summer on the MB/MEM/CPU I won't be able to afford the up to date stuff. Just the current stuff of today, ie XP2100, PC2700, and maybe a really good upgradeable board or whatever is mid market next summer.

What do you think?

What about this card? http://www.albatron.com.tw/News_9.php
Albatron with 128 MB and 3.3ns memory? $185.00 complete.

well now, considering your cpu speed, and what you are upgrading to, i'd go with the ti4400, or a damn good ti4200.

Oh my goodness, I didn't realize that Albatron TI4200 had 128ddr at 3.3ns. In that case, GO FOR IT! It looks beautiful

Let us all know how it runs

Yeah, now all I have to do is find one. Newegg is out of stock and I can't find another site that has this card.

I went to the Albatron site and their links to resellers isn't squat. Do you have and addresses of hardware shops that carry stuff like this?
