File planet, you god damn greedy bastards.... look what you did....

DEMO IS DELAYED
The theory is that file planet's software that attempts to stop their exclusive files from being mirrored is to blame for the problem...

Damnit, where's our demo? It's already 2:00 in the afternoon! When they say they're releasing a demo on the 20th, they should put it online at midnight
Bah, on their official site they even have an space under downloads with the word "Demo" on it, but it's grayed out. I think this whole thing is a conspiracy to make their hardcore fans go crazy! Yes, it's all a conspiracy...

BTW, what problems are you having with getting the game running Vampireuk? I've noticed a few occasional crashes and such, but I haven't had any problems getting it to run.

Edit: ARG! NOOOO! IT IS ALL A CONSPIRACY! I was right! Oh well, at least now we'll get it by Monday...OR SO THEY SAY!

I forsee two problems/ways around that theory.

1) Someone could download the demo, toss it into a .zip file and mirror it that way (if the exclusivity is based on file name or similar scheme).

2) The demo is "freeware" and attempts by one place to be an exclusive site for it could be considered a hindrance to trade and therefore be considered illegal.

Just a thought.

Newsfactory just put up a story on warp2search that the demo of DeusEx2 has been delayed. Maybe as late as Monday or Tuesday next week, mebbe as soon as tomorrow.

Sorry, I'm disapointed too.

Lightbulb quotes

"There was a problem with the demo. We think we've addressed it. It had nothing to do with FilePlanet." Chris Carollo, Ion Storm Forum Admin.

"If all goes well, the Deus Ex: Invisible War demo will be available tonight. All signs look favorable, so I would say...get ready to download (about 270MB)...and if you are like me, throw vases at EVERYONE!

It has a couple of minor issues, but overall it is working well. Please post here (either this thread, or make a new one) if you encounter any problems." Grey Mouser, Eidos Forum Admin.

Well fileplanet does have software that ATTEMPTS to do this, and apearently, this delay is blamed on them trying to change the way this software works. Thats all I know.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me though.... fileplanet would love a couple thousand more registered users to sign up to get a high-profile demo like this.
