Question "could not load device /dev/nvidia0" -- !help!

Hello, Sorry my English I'm Spanish.

I have AMD K6II 500 MHz, 512Mb of RAM and RIVA TNT2 16Mb, Runing Slackware 9.1 with kernel 2.4.21, XF86 4 and KDE 3.1, with driver "nv" it works right, but i was download NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run and install Drivers, change my XF86config file with "nvidia" but when start xwindow there is a trouble. Could not open device /dev/nvidia0, but all the files are crw-rw-rw- root root.

Thanks for your help.

Are you sure? Post the output of the following command:

ls -la /dev/nvidia*

please post the results of

Can you see 'nvidia' somwhere in the output of that command?
If not, try:

modprobe nvidia
and start X

Yes the module nvidia was loaded right, see the fist post attachment, the problem is about device /dev/nvidia0, it exists but the Xfree can't found it.
The package installed was NVIDIA_Linux_X86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run , under slackware 9.1 in AMD k6II 500. The installer compiles a custom kernel module and finish the installation correctly. but nothing seems to work.
