Default Black second screen on Acer Laptop

Hi All!

I have problem with enabling a second CRT monitor using a TM630-series laptop. When enabling TwinView the CRT just goes black (the laptop TFT is OK). I've read in the nVidia driver release notes that the DPMS (Display Power Management System) do not work properly using TwinView, but disabling DPMS has no effect. I have tried starting X using only the CRT but its still black.

Hardware/software:

Acer TM 636LCi (1GB RAM)
Redhat 8.0
Kernel 2.4.22 compiled with ACPI.
nVidia driver: 1.0-4496

XFConfig attached below:

More info and the XFConfig-file:

The hotkey switching (Fn-F5) with TwinView off do not work either.

However, TwinView using the TV-output works fine. I can, for example, start a second X-server with the Laptop TFT and a TV - but not using the TFT and the CRT.

Any ideas?

Regards

Fredrik

I've done some more tests. First I started X without TwinView using the Laptop TFT. Then I pressed Fn+F6 to switch off the TFT backlight (which works). Then I tried Fn+F5
which should switch on the CRT (which don't work). Since I've enabled ACPI debug message in the kernel (2.4.22) the message:

[ACPI Debug] String: BAT0_BST_RETURN:
[ACPI Debug] String: --------------------------------------- AC Present

was printed after the screen backlight was turned on again. However, when pressing Fn+F5 the following was printed:

[ACPI Debug] String: ---- Ctrl+Alt+F5 switch ----
[ACPI Debug] String: SMI routine

So my guess is that Fn+F5 is not interpreted correctly by the ACPI system. Has any one had any problem with ACPI and the 4496 driver?

\Fredrik
