NVIDIA driver with linux 2.6.0 kernel
I just downloaded the latest RedHat 10 / Fedora Core 1 linux install image and
upgraded my Red Hat 9 / Nvidia 4200 system.
After recompiling the 4496.run driver the NVIDIA card seems to work properly with the latest version of RedHat running with the 2.4.22 kernel.
Next , I downloaded the new 2.6.0-test10 kernel and built it from source.
The system runs in console mode with the new kernel , but the NVIDIA
4496.run driver will not compile. I am getting errors
"cannot find modversions.h"
I found a file called modversions.h , but it is different from the older version
found in the 2.4.22 kernel. As a result the 4496.run driver will not install on the 2.6.0 kernel.
The built in nvidia driver "NV" versus "NVIDIA" works with 2.6.0
but it does not provide GLX extensions. As a result some of my 3D graphics programs will not run.
Does any body have any ideas on getting the driver to work with the 2.6.0 kernel? Otherwise I guess I will have to wait until NVIDIA releases a newer driver.
