4496 was released in august.
The windows drivers are now in the 5100 range (or maybe higher, I haven;t checked recently) The 4496 driver still has issues (see the various threads in this forum, esp. with the DELL M60s ), so I was wondering when we could see an update ? ![]() |

1. The numbering between windows + linux drivers are not related whatsoever I think
yes there is 2.6 to worry about also read: http://www.xfree86.org/releaseplans.html Quote:
and all the new cards released since the last release: Quote:

thus do not expect anything before xfree 4.4 is released or 2.6.0 is released and then add a few weeks I guess, if at all |

OK, as far as I am aware the numbering scheme (at least the major part 44 in this case) is similar to the windows part ( 50 something)
But I'll gladly hear from someone in the know the real story. Having said that, please , please , please ... Isn;t there some beta version we could experimnent with ? |

The version numbers between Windows and Linux are related - the first two digits, at least...
The latest beta I've seen so far is 4620, dated 2003-09-29, but I don't think Nvidia would be pleased if I would post a link... - this beta seems to be quite stable, but maybe there are some issues with it that keep Nvidia from releasing?! And I don't know if the FX5700 or 5950 is supported by that beta, but there is at least one very nice improvement in 4620 - I think a lot of people will be happy about it... ;-)

Thanks for the heads up.
My main concern is support for the latest 2go /quadro4go cards (like the 700s in the dellM60s) which are not properly supported yet. |

![]() From: <...> To: Linux-bugs@nvidia.com Subject: 5700 support in linux driver Date: Tue, 02 Dec 2003 16:50:26 -0500 Please, NVidia, for the sake of all that is good in the world, PLEASE PLEASE release updated linux drivers that support the 5700 without instantly crashing! I realize that this card is brand new, but its the sexiest thing going (I actually RETURNED a Radeon to the store and exchanged it for this card). I'm dying without my Enemy Territory. Thanks for supporting us in the past, but please don't forget about your Linux users! |
