Anyone try it out yet? I didnt try out the other one so I dont know how it plays. This one however I tried and really like it...at first I thought it was a little bit flunky with the over the top voices and the fact you cant skip sceans but after playing it awile and flying around and driving the tank its pretty damn cool. Looks and runs a whole lot better than DeusEx2:Invisible War.

The other demo was horrible. I hope they have improved it A LOT since then.

I liked this demo. The voice acting sort of sucks & I hate the no-skip cut-scenes, but the Mercury engine runs great and looks sweet to me!

Unfortunately I got a very different impression of this demo.
The graphics looked quite poor and blocky, the sound effects were either too quiet or too loud, the voice acting was horrible, the cutscenes couldn't be skipped (which is unforgiveable nowadays). The controls felt heavy and off, especially when flying, and even with everything set on low the game ran really badly (worse than any other demo I've played recently) and kept jerking/stuttering around to a point where it was almost unplayable. Shame, as I was looking forward to Breed (despite the poor first demo) Anyone got any tips to get this demo running better? Maybe I'll give it one more chance before I uninstall it. |

Demo was quite different to the first one.
The Good: o No blue screen crashes. Previous demo crashed every minute or two. o Extreme 'head bob' that caused motion sickness and head-aches is now gone or reduced to normal levels. o Vehicles to use. o Looks better than the first demo, particularly nicer water I think. o Performs fine. No particularly slowdowns or jerkyness. o In game rendered cut scenes. o Looks like it has potential. Eg. team mates, lots of weapons, vehicles, air/ground/space combat. The Bad: o Terrible voice acting, normally I don't care about such, but the story line is painful to listen to. "Okay, now move to the next waypoint *hiss, crackle*" o Boring story line... War is going on and you have to kill the enemy. o Cut scenes poorly made with slow, linear camera and object movement. o Horrible movement and control. Walking on sloped ground or near other objects is weird. Feels sluggish. o Can't skip cut scenes which are very long. o Can't load game (due to menu screw up, not limits). Have to hit ESC or such just at the right time, or you could be in for 3 minutes of cut scenes before you get another chance to reload game. ALT-F4 and restart is faster at times. o Some enemy turrets fire at you continously, but your weapons pass straight through them making them impossible to kill. o Easy to make mistakes like I forgot to load the tank onto the plane and then had to take on the enemy single handed and on foot. o Tall grass and terrain featurs that block your vision, but don't hinder the enemy at all. o Space ship was very difficult to control, it just kept spinning, like I needed to calibrate my joystick, except I don't have a joystick. Had to fight the controls and just push it toward the planet. HUD looked real weird too, like the bars weren't rotating correctly. o General feeling of frustration playing the game. So if you thought the previous demo had potential, check out the new one. If you want to play game as exciting as the Halo demo, or have limited bandwidth, forget this download. Edit: Improved spelling slightly and added more comments. Last edited by Greg; 12-07-03 at 09:00 PM. |

I agree with most of what adv1 said.
the game runs smooth for me but the graphics looks dated & theres some artifacts here & there. the explosions a really bad for a 2004 game! it reminds me of doom1 explosions.lol the gameplay sux . also you cant load a saved game unless you restart or start the game first ! what the hell! you cant skip cutsences . Overall : the game is bad . i hope they revise the engine or at least fix these issues till Feb! |

To bad, too. If they had released this last year it would have probably done OK.

It was beautiful and the gameplay was pretty damn solid. I'd give it a whirl.
