NFSU and Max Payne 2. both have great graphics and are also fun which we dont usually get these days.

I'd have to go with either CoD or MP2 myself. However I'm very impressed by the shadowing the bumping of X2 - The Threat, as well as the Breed demo. However Breed doesn't count because it's not on retail shelves yet.

IM gonna go with UT2k3 and Unreal 2, the graphics just look good.

It indeed is nice F1 Challenge 99-02 by EA but Need For Speed Underground beats it hands down. I think the ISI or ISS or whoever did the engine for F1 modifed it for newer PS effects for NSF series maybe but I really do think NFSU is one the contenders for graphics of the year. However, I do like the bumpmapping thang being slowly used by games dev. Gives you the more..erm real 3D look and so, Halo would get a mention and also X2: The Threat from the demo.

Ugly cars? do you mean mercedes cars are ugly? The cars in that game consist of over 14,000 polygons each.
