Question Doom3 question...

Ok, we've seen the first one, done the second one, and some wish for the third one.

My question is: Does it have a storyline at all?

From what I can remember the first and second ones were just about going aroung killing ugly things that popped out from everywhere.

Care to enlighten me?

I't had somewhat of a story, but not much at all really. It was all about running around blasting the demons of hell

A storyline is a must, I get bored quickly if there is not a interesting storyline to the game I'm playing.

All I ask for in Doom3 is amazing graphics, and some big guns

In The Mood For Blood
There are two distinctive ways of playing Doom 3, as compared to the predecessors where it's just "kill, kill and KILL!". For one, there's the High tempo mode of play where you'll most likely blast every single demons in sight and make it to your objective ASAP, or you can also take time to absorb the story, read the PDA, the emails, and dive into the back story - something that was lacking in the first two Dooms. To make the game immersive, the creators set out to make a story (they hired a professional writer to spice up the material), and so in essence, there is a powerful theme to the game that the player should attempt to appreciate. Also, the game itself is a compliment to the artists. Players are encouraged to play at a moderate pace, to “stop and smell the roses” or body parts for the matter, and appreciate the level of details and depth that went into creating the world of Doom 3.

The demons were purposely made tough to fight, and there are also different puzzles written in, in the hope that the player will be made to think of how to approach situations differently rather than blasting their way through. So unlike the previous Doom games, Doom 3 does have a certain element of being a "thinking man's" game rather than a senseless shoot-to-kill one.

Well id had a story in quake 2, but they don't really shove it down your throat. When I played the first time I never even noticed a story, and it was not until I replayed it at a later time that I realized things actually made some sort of sense, and were related to eachother.

I don't really go in arguments over story or gameplay b/c it is a personal opinion, I wasn't one of the people that though Halflife was amazingly new in gameplay featured, b/c to me finding a switch to turn on the "oxygen" and the "fuel" is the same as finding a red skull key. I don't care much, but I will admit that it is better to have a plausible thing to find at least as opposed to a random object.

In any case d3 will have an attempt at a story and we will all decide whether we like it or not.

Will there actually be an in-depth storyline or just a regular "storyline" that we usually get from id software?
Believe it or not, there will actually be an in-depth story line. Id has hired writer Matt Castelo to come up with an intriguing and suspenseful storyline to go along with the terrifying gameplay. His previous works include writing for such games as the 7th Guest and The 11th Hour.

If it doesn't take every single bullet, cell, rocket, and grenade I have to kill the Cyberdemon, I'll be disappointed.

Searous Sam 1 and 2 had great stories and alot of killing. Maybe doom 3 will be similer.

Quake 2 had a decent story though it was maily kill the baddies and get more ammo.
