Question Fedora problem?...

hallo
The nvidia linux driver won't install on Fedora distro: it seems that there are some problems with the compiler... kernel header and linker are present: after the sh Nvidiadriver.xxx.run command the installer start but it don't find locally or remotly (at the nvidia ftp site) the precompiled kernel interface for fedora, then it try to compile a kernel interface but it is unable to build the module...

Note: no problem with last Redhat

Is it a Fedora kernel problem?

thanks

in the shell before you compile, do an export CC=/usr/bin/gcc32 (or setenv CC /usr/bin/gcc32 for non-bash) and it will compile and load just fine. Hmmm, or was it CC=gcc32. It's one of those two.

for fedora, it would be the first one you mentioned: "export CC=/usr/bin/gcc32", since it defaults to using /bin/bash as its shell. If the kernel sources were actually compiled using 3.3.x, it'd simplify the installing of new nvidia drivers, but explaining that can be tough if you're not staring at the screen.

export CC=gcc32 (should be enough)

As an alternative, you can use RPMs from the two repos in my sig, they take care of this for you I believe.
