Hello there! I've been busy lately trying to set up my dual monitor system. I have one new IBM 17" monitor... and an old HP 16"? monitor - from the HP 8130 line... and a 12"...err.. nevermind..
ok, here's the problem. when I try dual monitor them (or single boot the old HP one)... the old HP echoes "SELF DIAGNOSIS: PC DISPLAY SETTINGS CORRECT?" in big blue letters across the screen... so, I guess it's too new hardware (Nvidia Winfast Geforce 2 MX 32mb AGP - on driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_...y_ia32_1.0-4496) is there a way of getting this old hunk of crap to work with the driver? I really want to dual monitor, but I don't want to buy a new monitor when I have an old one that works at home. It displays X on standard kernel ghx drivers... but they don't let me dual monitor my system... plus I want latest drivers... any suggestions (minus those to buy a new monitor) are encouraged and welcome. thanks guys!! |

do the monitors work the other way round ?
the 17" on the DVI adaptor and the 16" on the main VGA out (if that is the way your card is setup) |

no, even if I set the old HP one as the primary monitor, without another connected, it won't load up. not even with windows XP -

so the HP 16" does not work as a primary or secondary display in twin view in linux.
nor does it work as a single monitor in linux or XP .... (to me) that means you will have to buy a new monitor ![]() |
