Default unable to boot up

Hi,
I've just installed a new OS, then after I install several softwares, like Office XP, ICQ, and the msconfig.exe (that I download from the web), and then I restart the computer, and it won't boot up again. When I tried to boot into safe mode, it boot until --> ...partition 2\winnt\system32\config\system, then it freezes. Does anyone know what's going on there? Thx.

Adrian

What new OS did you install?
if it's windows XP it has its own msconfig and that may be the problem.
