Default Which distro for a returning semi-noob?

I've used Linux before, but I don't by any means consider myself an advanced user.

With Redhat dropping support for Redhat 9 I don't know how much I want to go that route. Should I still stick with Redhat? Go with Mandrake? Fedora?
