If I try resetting the game to its default settings I get absolutely no picture at all, only sound.

After seeing the posts here, regarding the problems with ET, Nvidia and the Fedora Core 1. I decided to install ET on my system with the last ET update. All is running well, and I have not seen any strange textures at all. As before that I ran it with RH9 and no problems.

My Setup:

Fedora Core 1 - 2.4.22-1.2132.nptlsmp Kernel
Nvidia - Kernel Module 1.0-4620 (beta)
ET - Version 2.55

Patched ET to 2.56. And it still runs great with this configuration. No texture artifacts.

Don't know what else to suggest.

But, I noticed that you installed the driver using RPM's, and the Mesa stuff has to be removed to install it. (Else you get conflicts). I still have them installed. Mainly due to the fact that some of the GL games still require them. And if I remove the Mesa files, they no longer run. (Possibly due to them using the SDL stuff, which I think has something to do with it I guess).

You can try creating symlinks that point any program trying to load the Mesa libraries to the standard libGL files, then run ldconfig as root to update the cache - it would probably fail horribly, but it might work.

I tried installing the drivers with RPMs earlier but it didn't work (ie gave conflicts and never installed). I'm currently using the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4620-pkg1.run installer, I didn't even know of the RPMs until this thread, and I had the texture problems before I had the can't start OpenGl problem. So it seems like there might be something from some other RPMs that is conflicting so a couple questions.
What RPMs would I remove?
and
Also how do I "point any program trying to load the Mesa libraries to the standard libGL files, then run ldconfig as root to update the cache"?

I'd be interested in hearing how that's done myself.

ln -s libGL.so libMesaGL.so.2
(as root): /sbin/ldconfig

This might not work, though.
