Where does it say for xbox first? It doesn't seem to mention the PC version anywhere.

Wow, if this is true... that's amazing.

I've really been wanting to play this one.

I can't imagine JC and Co. would allow the Xbox version to be released first. If they're doing with Doom III what they did with Max Payne 2, figure on the PC version being released sometime between the third and fourth week of January. Excellent news indeed.

I'd laugh if it was released for Xbox first, if for no other reason then because of the uproar it would cause on this site.

Anyway, I'd still take this with a grain of salt. The date could easilly slip, and even now it's still in the rumor stage. But we'll have to see how it turns out, nothing is set in stone of course.

Hmmm, IIRC the Xbox version is being done outside of id Software, so if thats true, then the game must be practically finished by now. Perhaps that "New products launching soon" on id's site is the full thing?!

Anyone remember when Trent Resnor left the project? The story was that Microsoft offered id a large sum of money to release the game on the XBOX first. Apparently, John took the deal and Trent left with a sour taste in his mouth.

Either way, no big deal for me. I have a PC and an XBOX

That was just a combination of 2 stupid rumors that merged togeather a long time ago. Why would a musician quit working on a game because it was going to be availible on a console before the PC version? Not to mention if the game does come out on PC first it would blow the whole rumor to bits. And ID isn't even handling the Xbox port, Vicarious Visions is (the ones who handled the Jedi Outcast port). Though Doom 3 is certainly recieving a lot of funds from independant parties...Nvidia, Microsoft (rumored). Amazing what pretty graphics will get you.

Microsoft funding an OpenGL project.

Now THAT is classic (Not discounting what you're saying. I think it's entirely believable). OpenGL 4 life.

Or something.
