Default XF86Config problems with GeForce FX Go5200

I can't get X to start with my new laptop.
I've attached a zip with
XF86Config, startx.log and XFree86.0.log.
The symptom is X will not start.

Installation of driver went without a hitch.
I've been using NVidia drivers for years with other
Nvidia cards, though not on laptops.

3) Other information that's useful:

- your video card
Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200/64Mb

- your driver version

- your distribution
RedHat 9.0

- your video bios revision (look in /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0 while X is running)
X is not running

- your processor
Pentium M 1.6MHz

- your motherboard model (especially if you're having lockups)
not sure - Dell Inspiron 8600

My display is
WXGA (1280x800) LCD Panel
which seems to have a bearing on the problem.

Can you help?

Default monitor

I do not us a LCD display but I would guess you need to update

Section "Monitor"

Identifier "LCDPanel"
VendorName "Dell"
ModelName "Inspiron 8600"

# be sure to replace these values with values appropriate for your
# monitor!
# HorizSync 31-50
# VertRefresh 55-80

# Guess for LCD Panel display
# Modeline "1280x800" 148.0 3840 3944 4328 4816 2400 2401 2404 2418

with your LCD rates

I've been changing the Monitor section to no avail.
You can see I've commented out most all of it to
see if that might help, hoping in vain that some
guess by X or the Nvidia driver might help.
When I uncomment these, xstart still fails.
All my changes to Monitor have failed.

How can I find out my "LCD rates"?
Aren't the typical CRT monitor rates not applicable
to LCD displays, since they don't refresh in same manner?
The Dell user guide simply says refresh rate 60Hz,
along with (useless here) sizes, power consumption,
viewing angles, etc.
