Default Problem compiling driver with kernel 2.6

My machine is running Debian 3.0rc1 with kernel 2.6.0. When I try to install the latest Nvidia driver I get a message complaining that I don't have the following file: /lib/modules/2.6.0/build/include/linux/modversions.h. Browsing through the kernel source files, I noticed that the file exists under the include/linux/config directory. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

NVidia is not officially suporting 2.6 kernels yet.

You can get 2.6 compatible installers here:

http://www.sh.nu/download/nvidia/

Or the patches to installers here:

thanks!
i was getting the same error message but
i used those modified scripts and got a lot further.

my redhat 7.3 system has glibc-2.2 installed
and the shell script stopped because it wants glibc-2.3
but i ran "make install" manually and it recompiled everything ok.

it is working rather well so far - smooth and fast!
more notes later if i see any glitches.

Make sure you have configured module versioning (CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=y) in your kernel. After that you need to run "make-kpkg modules_config configure" in your kernel source dir... BTW, why don't you build a normal deb-package? Check this out

Bye, Para
